In 1993, my husband and I purchased a property in Merville.  In 1997 he died. After his death, I had to learn about being in the workforce and managing all my financial affairs. I had known nothing. It was a struggle for many years.

I had chosen not to apply for life insurance on my husband because I was very naive about money and it made me uncomfortable to think about. It is hard to describe the difficulties associated with not knowing anything about money. This is what motivates me now, to help other women that may be in the same place I was.

In 2022, after retiring from full time work at the hospital I was contacted by the Managing Director of World Financial Group and asked if I might like to join his company. He had seen my Diploma of Business Administration credentials which I had completed over the years in an effort to understand the financial world. It interested me, so I met him and decided to take the Life Insurance course and exams.

After completing that at the end of 2023, I had to shift my mindset from being an employee to being an entrepreneur. The journey has been empowering and is helping me develop in more ways than I expected. It is a great opportunity for me to help women who may be in the position I was in. I would love to reach out to women and help them understand the importance of knowing about finances.  Knowing how to control your money, helps you to control your life.

After her husband’s death, Ann had to learn about being in the workforce and managing all of her financial affairs. In an effort to understand the financial world, she completed a Diploma of Business Administration, and after retiring from full time work at the hospital, she acquired the credentials to become a Life Insurance Agent with the World Financial Group. The journey to entrepreneurship has been empowering and is helping her develop in more ways than she expected. Ann now aspires to support women who may be in the position she was in, and help them understand the importance of financial literacy.
