My name is Anne-grethe (Anne) Laird, the creator behind Purple Crow Designs. I have been making jewellery as a hobby for many years, using mainly bead weaving and stringing techniques. I discovered wire weaving in 2017 and fell in love with the creative and the cathartic process of doing the weave and watching a wearable piece of art emerge.

I started Purple Crow Designs in 2019, when I moved to Comox, as I found that I was often stopped and asked about my jewellery and if I had a website.

My product is primarily created using wire weave, wire wrapping, bead weaving or kumihimo with beads. Each piece is unique, as while it may start with a basic plan, it always changes and evolves as I work.  My pieces are made with passion, from materials that speak to my creative soul.  I strive to make a quality product that will last, one that I am proud of, one that will make the person wearing it feel beautiful and unique.

I now have an online store which includes a selection of my pieces.  I love doing markets, watching customers connect with a certain piece. Watching their eyes light up is a magical moment that I cherish each time I see it.

My jewellery is made from high quality copper and copper core plated wire, woven around semi-precious, glass or natural focals (such as seashells, corals or wood). Many of my pendants are placed on handmade chains either hand knotted or using wire weaving techniques. I create all pieces myself and make everything by hand using only hand tools.

My small, comfortable studio is located in my home in Comox.
