BOOST
This year, our BOOST recipient is Comox Valley Family Services.

Here's a snapshot of one way in which they help support families in the Comox Valley:
Healthy Families Program
These no fee programs are open to all families in the Comox Valley and surrounding area. Our team supports pregnant women, families, including parents, relatives and caregivers providing care to children 0- 6 years. The program also seeks to promote partnerships within our communities while strengthening support for vulnerable pregnant women, new mothers, children and their families.
Community Action Program for Children
A community-based family program with a focus on the healthy development of young children (0-6 years). The goal of this program is to support families who may be living in conditions of risk or facing challenging life circumstances. We offer weekly drop-in groups, access to parent-child resources and opportunities to develop new social connections. A supportive learning environment encourages conversations about health, safety, nutrition, growth and development of young children.
Additionally, program participants can talk with our team of nurses, nutritionist, infant development consultants, Early Childhood Educators and outreach workers for individual support. There are activities for children provided in a safe and stimulating environment. Transportation and healthy meals are included.
Healthy Babies Prenatal Nutrition Program
This program is for women who are pregnant or have a baby under 6 months of age. Weekly groups offer prenatal and early parenting support to women and their families who are experiencing health or lifestyle challenges during pregnancy, birth and the transition to parenthood. Transportation and a healthy meal are included. Individual support on-site or on an outreach basis provides participants with opportunities for personalized support. Additional services include free prenatal vitamins, food supplements, breastfeeding support, nutrition and health counseling, baby weight checks and referral to community resources.
The Healthy Families Program is accredited through the B.C. Family Resource Programs.
