Welcome Spring and more sunlight!! What a great time of year it is with sunshine and flowers blooming!! It is hard to believe we only have 3 meetings left for the WBN year!
I am looking forward to both our Key Note and Spotlight speaker this month. April is also bringing us our Auction to support B.O.O.S.T. Donations are still being accepted and appreciated. The auction did well last year so when it’s ready for Auction Day be sure to share with everyone you know! We also have the Minerva Award and Bursary deadlines at the end of April. Be sure to get your submissions in for those.
Have you thought about being more active with the WBN? We are looking for a few of you who may want to help us on the Board next year. It is a great way to either use skills you already have or perhaps learn something new. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

How Branding & Social Media Impact Your Business
Hello! I'm Katrinna (she/her), the founder/creative director for Chewy Creative a Comox Valley-based design and strategy studio that partners with business owners to help bring to life dream websites, authentic brands, and holistic marketing strategies.
Over the last few years, my nimble little team and I have worked with countless brands, a majority of them women-owned and -led. We love to work with brands that share our values of inclusion, diversity, honesty, vulnerability, growth, and sustainability. Supporting our community is important to us, and in 2020 we launched Conscious x Soulful, a program where a woman-identifying BIPOC business owner is chosen to be uplifted through branding, web design, and brand photography. We're aiming to do a 2023 intake for the CxS program soon!
On a personal note, my background is in marketing and I have been an entrepreneur since I was a child (and we're not just talking lemonade stands...). After transitioning from a career in wine industry-specific marketing, I spent a few years freelancing as a social media manager, graphic designer, and marketing generalist. It really lights me up when I see how my team and I have been able to help other businesses and brands reach their goals and show up with more confidence and clarity. We're really excited to see how the next few years shape up and how we'll continue to support our clients.

The Minerva Award is presented annually to recognize a member of the Women’s Business Network who gives freely of her experience, time and energy to the organization, its members, and our community.

Business Development Bursary
The WBN membership offers a bursary valued up to $500 each year. This bursary is offered to encourage and support any CVWBN member who wishes to enhance their current skills and assist in their professional development.
The course must be from an accredited institution, professionally recognized group or association. The member must not have been awarded the bursary in the past two years or at the Board’s discretion.
To apply, please fill out the Application Form.
The deadline for applications is April 30th.
