Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North

Volunteer Manager, Habitat for Humanity - Vancouver Island North.

Building strength, stability and self-relliance through shelter.

My role as Volunteer Manager for Habitat for Humanity is to engage individuals, the business community, and skilled tradespeople, to volunteer in the ReStore and on build sites.

Habitat's mission is to empower hard-working families and make homeownership affordable by mobilizing community spirit and generosity to build safe and affordable housing for local families.

Since its inception in 2002, Habitat Vancouver Island North has constructed eighteen homes in the Comox Valley and Campbell River.

Guiding Principles

  • Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone deserves a chance to live in decent, affordable housing. We provide low-income families a ‘hand up’, not a handout.’

  • The homes are not free! To receive a Habitat home, qualifying families must put in 500 hours of sweat equity and pay a no-interest mortgage.

  • Many of our past home recipients have been single mothers who were working hard to improve their job skills so that they can improve the lives of their children.
